This institutional policy provides guidelines for the rational and appropriate use of antibiotics at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. It covers prophylactic, empirical, presumptive, and definitive antimicrobial therapy for adult, pediatric, neonatal, obstetric, transplant, surgical, dialysis, and other specialized infections. The policy also addresses antimicrobial stewardship, culture-guided de-escalation, resistance surveillance, multidrug-resistant organisms, infection control, dosing, and surgical prophylaxis.
